Six Aalto’s fields rank among the world’s top 100 in ShanghaiRanking
Aalto University once again performed strongly in the ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects, which compares universities around the world. Aalto’s highest-ranked field was marine/ocean engineering, which placed 31st globally, followed by textile science and engineering at 36th. Business administration and library and information science ranked 51–75, while transportation science and technology and mining and mineral engineering ranked 76–100.
ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects is a global subject-level comparison of universities, published since 2017. It assesses factors including the quality and impact of research, research excellence, international collaboration, academic recognition and leadership positions.
This year, the comparison included around 2,000 universities from 96 countries or regions, covering a total of 57 academic subjects. Based on the number of top-ranked subjects, Harvard University performed best, with 11 of its fields ranked number one in the world. Overall, 27 of the top spots went to US universities and 22 to Chinese universities.
The fields of art and design, which are important to Aalto University, were not included in the comparison.
