New release makes AaltoSDG mobile app more accessible

Feedback from the users is a valuable asset in developing the AaltoSDG mobile application. The new release makes the app more accessible and eases navigation.
AaltoSDG version 2.1 What's new

Since the launch of the AaltoSDG mobile application in January 2020, the app is continuously developed to match the sustainability needs of the Aalto community. In November, the AaltoSDG team started another development sprint to create a more user-friendly experience.

In the 2.1 version, the main goal was to improve accessibility of the app, as well as to make navigation easier. The app is now compliant with the digital accessibility requirements presented in the EU directive and the Finnish Act on Provision of Digital Services. Furthermore, the navigation structure was simpified and made even more intuitive and responsive. In addition, the app now gives you notifications driven by action participation.

The active AaltoSDG user community has been a great strength to the application development. In October, the main improvements needed were identified through a user survey and feedback. As a thank you, the respondents of the survey received movie tickets and AaltoSDG overall badges.

The survey results and feedback served as a basis to create the list of changes, which were implemented by AaltoSDG’s partner Geniem. In November, the app’s test group got the opportunity to assess a pilot version of app 2.1 and submit their reviews. A testing process with a diverse group of test users is essential to make sure that the app works smoothly on all devices. The testers will also get a chance to preview the new version before it is released.

The AaltoSDG team would like to thank all active app users who have submitted suggestions for improving the content, features or usability of the application. We truly appreciate them, please feel free to keep them coming next year as well!

We hope you enjoy the app update during the holiday season and continue making sustainable choices in the new year. It is certain that 2021 will bring new monthly themes, weekly actions and even a more sustainable future for the Aalto community!
