Increased number of applicants for English-language bachelor’s programmes

Results will be published early June.

Interest in Aalto University’s study programmes continues its steady growth. The application period for English bachelor’s programmes ended on 20 January. Aalto offers eight bachelor-level study options in English, and a total of 4 699 applications were received, with a 9.2% growth compared to last year.

Vice President of Education, Petri Suomala says, 'We are really pleased. We can see the same trend in the number of applicants with bachelor’s programmes in English as at the beginning of January with our master’s programmes. Our bachelor’s programmes are attracting international interest, the number of applications increased in this application round as well. The interest in the Bachelor’s Programme in Design at the School of Arts, Design and Design in particular, has grown tremendously from last year. A warm thank you to all the applicants.'

They all saw massive interest, with Economics garnering 970 applications, Design 453, Chemical Engineering 300, Computational Engineering 475, and Quantum Technology 328. Additionally, there were 589 applications for Data Science and 391 for Digital Systems and Design. The International Business programme in Mikkeli had 1 193 interested applicants.

The application round was for the bachelor’s programmes taught in English. The students admitted to bachelor’s programmes also receive a direct study right for a master’s degree. The studies will begin in autumn 2021.

Results for the English-language bachelor’s programmes will be published on 4 June 2021 at the latest.

Application for the Finnish and Swedish-language bachelor’s programmes will be from 17 March to 31 March.
