Creative Demo Day event brought together arts and creative technologies from Aalto and Uniarts in Otaniemi
The two creative industry pre-incubators teamed up again to organise a pitching event for their participants in November 2023.
Creative Demo Day provides the pre-incubator teams and individuals an opportunity to present their projects to a larger audience, specifically targeting those with an interest in entrepreneurial endeavours within the creative and arts industries. They also receive expert feedback from a jury consisting of experienced creative industry professionals.
Aalto Digital Creatives' next programme application period starts on January 1st 2024. The Uniarts Hub application period is open 12.12.2023-22.1.2024.
Aalto Digital Creatives teams and Unisrts Hub teams met at Creative Demo Day at the hybrid stage in Harald Herlin Learning Center, Otaniemi on November 29th. The ideas of the teams ranged from arts services to technological innovations. Altogether 11 individuals or teams stepped on stage and pitched their ideas in front of a live audience on-site and online - and a highly competent jury.
Participants of ADC's current fourth program to pitch were Juan Duarte with Soundsphere - a sound spatialization instrument, Elena Emmanuele with the artisan jewelry market place Petiême, Tanya Shamova of Housefolk games with the Monster Care game, and Kim-Niklas Antin with the invisible loudspeaker concept Art Sonique. Also, Nidal Karagic from ADC alumni Pawple was there to pitch their dog care application.
During the programme the teams are guided by business advisors and creative industry experts. The Creative Demo Day jury consisted of exactly those: Helena Auramo, Co-founder of Prönö, Heikki Laaninen, Project Manager at BSG-Go in Metropolia School of Applied Arts, Anu Oksanen, Business Advisor at Business Helsinki, and Xander Ross, Co-founder of TV and Entertainment PR agency Percy & Warren.
"The blending of social purpose with creativity and entrepreneurship will be the future; creating businesses that make the world a little better place through play, music, education or problem solving", said Xander Ross about what he saw in the pitches collectively.
"I think there were many inspiring ideas. I have been here several times, and I have seen ideas becoming bigger and bigger", concluded Helena Auramo the Creative Demo Day.
Aalto Digital Creatives program modules include workshops where participants learn to develop and protect the business ideas and expand their networks. Emphasis is also put on pitching the ideas to different audiences as this serves the participants in finding partners and investors. On top of the coaching from the experts at Aalto Startup Center and Aalto Studios, peer support and pitching training is one the key takeaways for the participants.
The application period to the next Aalto Digital Creatives pre-incubator program is open from the 1st of January until the 14th of Februrary 2024. Applications are encouraged from teams or individuals who have an idea for business and a background in the creative industries. Read more here!
