Coming soon, ARTEFAKTI26 (3.-9.9.2026)
Can waste be a raw material rather than a byproduct? What survives when language is burned into clay? Can an object hold a relationship after someone has died? What does 852 million people's insomnia look like, woven into fabric? Is a "masculine" shoe masculine because of the shoe, or because of the era? Can restoring a landscape also restore a community's say in it? What does grief sound like when you turn on a tap? These are some of the questions this year's graduates have spent exploring during their final year.
The fourth iteration of ARTEFAKTI, the graduation exhibition of the Contemporary Design MA programme, is taking place from the 3rd to 9th of September 2026 at Puristamo hall in Kaapelitehdas as part of Helsinki Design Week.
Participating graduates of ARTEFAKTI26: Anna Leeman, Ariane Carde, Carla Rotenberg, Chien Chi Kuo, Daniel Schiechl, Elisabeth Bureau, Fanny Kajela, Greta Ballschuh, Hailey Robinson, Henriikka Pahkala, Jule Timm, Juni Neyenhuys, Kauri Rantala, Kirsikka Heiskari, Mattia Anderle, Minchen Stenersen, Robert Hedengren, Ronja Kortelainen, Sanni Havas, Seoyoung Lee, Sesilia Pirttimaa, Willem Vrancken.
Approaching design from a multidisciplinary perspective, the Contemporary Design students engage with questions of materiality and process. Although very different in focus, all are united by a thoughtful, experimental, and critical approach to design.
MADE BY STUDENTS, FOR STUDENTS
