Babak Presents Sustainable E-Textiles Innovation at International Conference in France

Babak Abdi, a PhD scholar from Aalto University, presented his latest research at E-Textiles 2025, the 7th International Conference on the Challenges, Opportunities, Innovations and Applications in Electronic Textiles. The conference was held from 12–14 November at ENSAIT – University of Lille in Roubaix, France, bringing together leading experts and researchers from across the globe.

Babak delivered a presentation titled “Developing High-Performance, Eco-Friendly E-Textiles Using Carbon-Based and Bio-Based Techniques,” where he highlighted innovative pathways for creating sustainable electronic textiles. His work focuses on combining carbon-based materials with bio-derived components to produce high-performance, environmentally responsible e-textile solutions—addressing one of the major challenges in the rapidly growing smart textiles sector.

The research was conducted under the supervision of Prof. Ali Tehrani, group leader of the Textile Chemistry Group at Aalto University. Together, they aim to push forward the integration of sustainability in next-generation electronic textiles.

E-Textiles 2025 provided a platform for researchers, industry professionals, and academics to exchange ideas on the future of wearable technology, smart fabrics, and sustainable material innovation. Abdi’s contribution was noted as an important step toward developing greener alternatives within the field.
