Université Grenoble Alpes (UGA) has launched its IRGA call – Initiatives de Recherche Grenoble Alpeswith a dedicated programme to host international researchers on short-term visits.

Who can apply?

Although the programme is designed for international academics, applications must be submitted internally by a permanent UGA staff member (a researcher, teacher-researcher, or research engineer with a PhD) affiliated with a UGA research unit.

Interested Aalto researchers should first make contact with a potential host in Grenoble—for example, colleagues they met during the Unite! Research School. The UGA host would then act as the project leader.

Available funding

The programme supports stays of 1–2 months, either in one continuous period or split into two periods of at least one month each. Visits may combine research activities with teaching or training, where relevant.

Eligible costs include:

  • Living and local expenses (daily allowance, accommodation, and local transport), according to UGA rules.
  • Travel costs are covered by a fixed lump sum of €500 or €1,000, depending on the country of origin.

When to apply?

Proposals may be submitted at any time via the UGA DEPOSIBUS platform. Applications are evaluated, and funding decisions are made during several selection rounds.

The next deadlines are:

  • 15 February 2026
  • 15 May 2026
  • 15 November 2026 (12:00)
