Anu Honkalinna appointed Head of Spinoff Asset Management

She will build and manage university's investments in startups with roots in Aalto University

Anu Honkalinna, Master of Law, has been appointed Head of Spinoff Asset Management at Aalto University starting on 7 August 2023.

In this new role, Anu Honkalinna will be building and managing the university’s spinoff asset portfolio, i.e. investments in startups with roots in Aalto University. She will advise our inventors and other commercialication team members on spinoff creation from business and financial perspective as well as build connections between our spinoff teams and the venture capital investor community. 

Honkalinna will report on the portfolio progress to the Aalto University Board, Investment Committee and other relevant parties, and participate in further development of the relevant policies and operation models on the spinoff asset management.

In her role she will work in tight collaboration with other university services, including the University Endowment and Innovation Ecosystem Services.

Anu Honkalinna’s earlier experience is wide, including legal director positions in global insurance companies and various roles from founder to advisor in several startup companies. She has actively participated in promoting science-based spinoffs and held several courses on startup law at the University of Turku.

She will report to Marianna Bom, Chief Financial Officer of Aalto University.
