Amer Cultural Foundation donates to the School of Arts, Design and Architecture

The Foundation is looking to target its EUR 50 000 support to demanding artistic and scientific accomplishments.

Amer Cultural Foundation is donating 50 000 euros to Aalto University's School of Arts, Design and Architecture. According to the Cultural Foundation, the School of Arts, Design and Architecture is a good candidate for the donation as the Foundation is looking to target its support to demanding artistic and scientific accomplishments.

Education and research of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture play a major role for the future of creative industries and culture in Finland. The School's competence areas as part of the multidisciplinary entity of Aalto are also significant for the success of Finnish business life.

‘Aalto is one of the leading universities in the field of design, and the Amer Cultural Foundation is interested in supporting design education at the university level, which promotes creativity and creates innovative practical solutions through design. These were the reasons why we wanted to make a donation to the School of Arts, Design and Architecture’, says Ilkka Brotherus, the chair of the board of the Amer Cultural Foundation.

The graduates of the School of Arts, Design and Architecture include designers, media professionals, experts in the film industry, architects as well as makers of art. The school was ranked 13th on the list of best design and arts schools in the group of 1,600 universities (QS 2017).

In recent years, the operations of Aalto University will be concentrated in Otaniemi, where an internationally unique science, arts and technology centre is being developed.
