This summer is the perfect time to learn something new, or advance already existing knowledge and skills at Aalto. The application period for Aalto University Summer School 2022 is now open. This year, the Summer School offers five new multidisciplinary academic courses in digital business, architecture and health, sustainable biomaterial science, leadership in growing startups and scaleups and machine learning.

The courses allow students and lifewide learners to meet from all over the world, work together in international and multidisciplinary teams and get the true Aalto University study experience while exploring Finland. Since its start in 2020, Summer School has offered both online and on-campus courses as well as customised programs for over 250 students from every corner of the world.

All courses are taught by leading specialists within their fields and will be offered either online or on-site at the beautiful seaside Aalto University campus in Espoo Otaniemi.

‘We are excited to finally welcome our visiting students back on campus and to continue developing our online curriculum. Studying at Aalto University will give you a unique opportunity to experience multidisciplinary studies and engage with challenge-based learning. Our curriculum is based on Aalto University's three cross-cutting approaches: solutions for sustainability, radical creativity and entrepreneurial mindset.’, says Laura Sivula, Head of Summer School.

Aalto University Summer School is not only about studying but also a social experience. Enjoying the Finnish summer is the best way to get the most out of intense academic experiences and challenging coursework. That is why, each year, students get to enjoy fun, Finnish summer activities and visit the most important summer sites in the Helsinki region together with coursemates. Take a dip in the sea, explore the mysterious but equally beautiful paths of Suomenlinna Sea Fortress or embark on a day trip to Tallinn by boat.

‘It’s not often that you get the opportunity to spend two weeks surrounded by like-minded individuals from around the globe where you’re not only learning from each other’s experiences, but also from instructors about the latest digital trends and new ways of working in an experiential setting. Finland was also high on my travel list, and there is no better way to get to know a new place than immersing yourself in the culture for an extended period of time.’, says Tyler Spring, Summer School alumnus and MBA student at University of Calgary Haskayne School of Business.
