Aalto University admitted 2126 new students to BSc programmes taught in Finnish or in Swedish
In the second joint application of the spring 2026, 2126 new students were admitted to Aalto University's bachelor's programs taught in Finnish or Swedish, from among 15189, applicants. For the field of science and technology, 1586 students were admitted, 379 for the field of business and economics, and 161 for arts and design.
'Warm congratulations to all those who secured a study place, and welcome to the Aalto community! See you on campus in the autumn', says Vice President for Education, Petri Suomala.
In the fields of technology and business, the majority of new students are selected based on their grades in the national matriculation exams, while some are admitted through entrance exams. Of those selected for the technology field, 80% were admitted based on their grades, and 60% in the field of business.
Additionally, 42 students were selected for the technology field and 67 for the business field through other selection methods, such as the open university pathway and competition success selection. Among applicants via the open university pathway, 25 students were admitted to the field of technology and 43 to the field of business studies.
In addition to the spring joint application procedure, it is also possible to apply to certain bachelor’s programs taught in Finnish and Swedish through transfer application, allowing students to apply for transfer to another university during their first year of study. This year, altogether 30 were admitted to Aalto through that procedure, of which 15 to the field of technology and 15 to the field of business.
