Aalto AI Assistant available now to students - learn the features - AI Training coming soon

Ai.aalto.fi is now open for students. New features added: Document chats, save your chats etc.

Aalto University will provide both its staff and students AI training starting on May 2025. We are now boldly leaping onto a moving train

Aalto AI Assistant open to students, 
new features for all Aaltonians 

Aalto AI Assistant was opened to students on Monday 28 April, 2025.

While based on the same set of language models as ChatGPT, Aalto AI Assistant offers a much more secure environment for work and study.  
 

Why use Aalto AI Assistant

AI training 

When you open AI Assistant, you will get a simple set of instructions on using the tool at https://www.aalto.fi/fi/palvelut/aalto-ai-assistant. You will see a few examples of prompts that have been found to work well, tips on how to use Aalto content safely,  as well as things like, for instance, how to convert a hand-drawn mind map to text. 

  • Early May,  a self study course about AI in teaching and learning is published in MyCourses. Teachers, students and all aaltonians are welcome to make use of this self-study material.  
  • In May, we will host discussion sessions where attendees will have a chance to hear about and discuss the challenges related to AI, such as the ethics of AI and how AI affects learning or the natural environment. One discussion session is for both students and personnel, two other sessions are aimed for teachers, other personnel is welcome as well.
  • A full AI course for students will be published in autumn 2025. The five-credit course will cover the basics of AI as well as prompting, data literacy and assessing the quality of AI-generated responses. Other key topics include AI-assisted study methods and safe and ethical use of AI. The course is an open online course by Aalto for Aalto. In addition to the online course, we will offer on-site teaching and opportunities to discuss AI from a variety of viewpoints in autumn 2025.
  • Aalto Prompt Book (project name) will be collecting concrete AI use cases and prompts in the fall: how to use AI in different situations, roles, and with various types of data. This support tool will be integrated into the Aalto AI Assistant interface. Its content and examples are by Aalto people for Aalto people.
