Content and structure of the minor
About the minor
The Space Science and Technology minor has four focus areas: space technology, Earth observation, space physics and radio astronomy. These include, for example, building of satellite systems and space instruments, developing microwave radar and radiometer methods for Earth observation, working with space weather satellite observations and numerical simulations of the Earth and other solar system objects, and radio astronomical techniques, and the study of active galactic nuclei and galactic objects. The student can choose the study field(s) according to their academic or career interests.
After a successful completion of the minor, the student
- will be able to describe space as an environment for instruments and science, and its role in the Earth system monitoring for sustainable future.
- can explain the basic physical principles governing the processes in Earth observation, space physics, radio astronomy, or in space systems.
- will be able to characterize reliable and energy-efficient space systems.
- can distinguish methods for measuring and recording data from space.
