Course description

To harness the value of innovations, and to protect these core assets, it is critical that companies have well-equipped IP experts in their reach. The Patentit-teollisuus-tekniikka program introduces you to all the essential themes around industrial rights management. During the nine-month program, you will get a thorough overview of industrial rights in Finland and other markets; of patenting processes in Finland, PCT, and the EPO; of IP strategies and competitors' mapping; and in protecting and defending your intellectual rights.

The Patent program is delivered via online lectures (on average two full days per month, 16 days in total). In addition, participants are expected to study in their own time for the exams and complete the written assignments. The trainers are renowned industry professionals from patent attorney firms, the Patent and Registry Office, universities, and several large corporations. Through these lectures, workshops, and assignments, you will gain a vast amount of technical know-how and skills, deepen your understanding of the IP field as a whole, and network with other industry professionals.

The training program includes an optional study tour to the European Patent Office, three exams, and written assignments.

The program is held in Finnish.

Teaching takes place at Aalto EE's premises in Helsinki.
