The textile industry globally generates millions of tons of post-consumer waste annually, most of which ends up in landfills or incineration. At the same time, construction and other industries rely heavily on fossil-based insulation and virgin source materials, contributing to carbon emissions and environmental challenges. TexFoam develops bio-based foam materials from recycled textile fibers, combined with cellulose derivatives and environmentally friendly additives. These foams are lightweight, thermally insulating, and fire-resistant, primarily suitable for building insulation such as walls, roofs, acoustic panels, and any other elements that require these characteristics. By transforming textile waste into high-performance foams, TexFoam reduces waste volumes, lowers the carbon footprint, and offers a fully circular, sustainable alternative to conventional products. Finland’s strong expertise in circular economy and sustainable materials provides an ideal environment for scaling this innovation. TexFoam supports the EU circular economy and Green Deal objectives, and sustainable material markets, creating environmental, societal, and commercial value.
