Did you know that Aalto University has a space where you can host small groups of visitors, without prior booking, and introduce them to Aalto University with the help of an augmented reality storybook?

You are welcome to explore our compact Welcome Lounge in Dipoli, where it is possible to host small groups or individual visitors. The main focus of the launch is the Aalto University augmented reality storybook. The project was developed in collaboration with two talented students from the School of Arts, Design and Architecture, Jennifer Greb and Julia Sand. The objective of the project was to provide an engaging and innovative showcase of Aalto University student work while briefly telling the Aalto University story.

The Aalto University story is told through the physical pages of the book with 2D and 3D animations that come to life in augmented reality. These animations can be seen through a tablet available next to the book. As visitors view the book through the front camera of the tablet, each page will act as a trigger for unique imagery to move across the surface of the pages.

One of the students behind this project, Julia Sand, will be present at the launch and will tell about the highlights of the project. This is a great opportunity to explore the Welcome lounge, Aalto University augmented reality storybook, ask some questions about the usage of the lounge and make development suggestions for the future.

The launch will last from 15:30 to 17:00 and everyone is free to drop in at any time during the launch. The event is primarily targeted at Aalto University students and staff.
