'The Herbarium of Digi-Botanica'
This showcase highlights a collection of digitally cultivated specimens of the ‘Digi-Botanica’ plant species. There are four distinct specimens of this species- ‘001’, ‘002’, ‘003’ & ‘004. Each specimen is cultivated in a 3-D digital environment using resources from the Visual Resources Centre of the Aalto University Archive. The generative procedures resulted in 1000 variations across the four specimens, with each specimen featuring 250 unique generative forms. The culmination of this artistic endeavor is encapsulated in four meticulously curated books, each functioning as a 'herbarium' of the Digi-botanica.
This is a thesis project resulting from the residency program offered by Visual Resources Centre (VRC) at Aalto University. During the program, a student, researcher, artist, or designer collaborates with the visual resources of the Aalto Archive to create a project and an exhibition. The initiative seeks to increase understanding and encourage the utilization of the center's assets.
The project was created by Anjori Tandon, a student of the Master of Arts in Visual Communication Design at Aalto Arts.
