Finland's biggest sustainability science event teams up with one of world's leading sustainability congresses in 2024

Sustainability Science Days (SSD) is a multi-day summit for groundbreaking, transdisciplinary research. It is the biggest sustainability science conference in Finland. SSD brings together the academic community, international top speakers, societal changemakers, and the public to create knowledge, actions, and solutions for a sustainable future. Our vision is to bring society’s changemakers together to co-create a common understanding and knowledge about the sustainability crisis and to act in concert towards a global transformation for a sustainable future.

SSD has been arranged six times previously, and its mission is to respond to the high demand for sustainability knowledge in order to cope with the unsustainable megatrends of our time. The conference is arranged in a unique collaboration by Aalto University and the University of Helsinki Institute of Sustainability Science (HELSUS). Finland will be the hot spot for sustainability related research, innovations, and solutions in June 2024 when Sustainability Science Days (SSD) unites with one of the world's biggest sustainability congresses – the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress (SRI).

Since 2021, the Sustainability Research & Innovation Congress (SRI) has united global leaders in research, government, civil society, and business to meaningfully advance progress towards sustainability. The SRI Congress offers an exceptionally inclusive and inspiring global platform for co-creating state-of-the-art solutions and innovations and building a coalition of the willing to achieve a sustainability transformation. SRI is co-convened by Future Earth and the Belmont Forum and co-organized with local hosts.

SRI has been held in Oceania, Africa, and Latin America, and is now heading to Europe to collaborate with Finland’s biggest sustainability research event. SSD is a joint collaborative effort between Finland’s two largest universities, the University of Helsinki, and Aalto University.

The Congress will include Satellite Events in other regions to offer different perspectives and accommodate time zones.

The fully hybrid SRI2024 will engage a diverse audience around an interactive and engaging program emphasizing learning, networking and innovation and seeking inclusive and novel pathways to move knowledge to action. All events will be recorded for later viewing and reuse.

Registration is now open at sricongress.org

Detailed programme of the conference will be published closer to the event. To read more about the event, please visit sricongress.org
