In our events, we are committed to Aalto University’s principles for a safer space.

We are pleased to invite you to the guided tour at the Designs for a Cooler Planet exhibition taking place at Aalto University in Otaniemi campus.

Date: 27 October
Time: 16:30 to 18:00
Venue: Aalto University, Marsio, Otakaari 2, Espoo

Join us for an evening bringing together pioneering solutions and bold experiments from a wide range of research fields in science, art, technology and business. After the greetings from the dean Kari Tammi, three professors demonstrate how something small or seemingly ordinary can have an impact far greater than its size and change the way we think about what is possible.

Meet the professors and their projects:

  • Magda Posani, Assistant Professor:
A home warmed by nature slows climate change
  • Sergei Khakalo, Assistant Professor:
Geometry makes materials lighter and stronger
  • Pedro Vilaca, Professor and Head of Department:
New hydrogen innovation could democratize energy

The tour and presentations will be followed by a networking reception with refreshments.

A home warmed by nature slows climate change

Bio-based insulation materials can store carbon and reduce emissions. Researchers develop alternatives for renovation using biomass-based solutions.

Geometry makes materials lighter and stronger

Geometry can make materials lighter and stronger. Researchers develop metamaterials where structure, not material, defines strength and adaptability.
