Welcome to the next Quantum Technology Finland Colloquium on Monday 7th October 2019! Refreshments will be served before the lecture at 13:45-14.15.

Our distinguished guest, Professor Göran Johansson, Head of the Applied Quantum Physics Laboratory, Chalmers University of Technology, will present his research on "Engineering propagating quantum states of light and sound in waveguides".

Abstract:

In this talk I’ll review some of our work on waveguide QED, where we study a single quantum emitter coupled to a 1D waveguide. In particular I’ll discuss the possibility of continuous generation of propagating states with a negative Wigner function, simply by driving the quantum emitter with a coherent drive. I’ll also discuss what happens when you couple the quantum emitter to surface-acoustic waves, with a wavelength smaller than the emitter size. In case there is  time, I’ll briefly mention the activities in the Wallenberg Centre of Quantum Technology, which started 1st of January 2018.
