Investigation of creativity fostering and critical thinking assessment approaches in engineering education

The growing demand for creativity and critical thinking has raised global interest in how these skills are developed in higher education.

This doctoral research explores how engineering students’ creativity can be enhanced and how their critical thinking skills can be more effectively assessed. It examines idea-generation methods, the role of project-based learning, and how traits like curiosity, perseverance, and diligence influence creativity.

The study also identifies current practices for assessing critical thinking in engineering and highlights the need for clearer and more consistent methods.

The findings offer practical suggestions for researchers, educators, and universities to better support the development of creative and critical thinkers in engineering.
