A Finnish foundation (säätiö) is a legally independent, non-profit entity created to manage assets set aside for a specific purpose, such as supporting research, arts, culture, or social initiatives. The Finnish registered foundations, split between grant-awarding (approx. 400) and operational foundations (approx. 2300), which run their own services like educational institutes and museums. The grant-awarding foundations provide support as personal grants and project-based funding.

This event introduces the landscape of Finnish foundation funding and how to apply competitively through two focused panel discussions: one on personal grants and one on project funding granted to Aalto. Each panel is structured as a moderated conversation with integrated Q&A. Participants will gain practical insights into priorities, evaluation criteria, common pitfalls, and tips to strengthen their proposals.
