LGBTQIA+ in Higher Education – Online Peer Support Session (Nyyti ry)
Welcome to join Nyyti Ry English-speaking online safer space peer support sessions!
Have you ever wondered how your cultural background affects your relationship with your identity? How do different cultures deal with queer identity and how does it manifest itself in your own life? This session will provide a space for you to share your thoughts and hear about the experiences of other international students. We all bring with us our own culture and with it different ways of dealing with sexuality, gender and communities – and that is what makes our stories unique.
In this peer support session, you can openly discuss cultural differences, the challenges of student life and your own reflections on accepting and expressing queer identity. We will talk about all the things many of us are wondering: how to adapt to a new environment if your culture is critical of sexual and gender minorities? How to balance your own identity when it conflicts with the expectations of the community around you? Here you can share these reflections with others who understand and respect your experiences.
The event is completely confidential and can be attended without prior knowledge or experience of peer support. This is a place where you can feel that you are part of something bigger – a community that values and accepts you for who you are, no matter where you come from. Join us and find strength and support in a community built on openness, respect and your own identity.
