For educational developers: Sustainability Integration, Current Experiences – Future Perspectives

Universities are striving to find ways to integrate sustainability into degrees and courses. In this seminar we share current practices and insightful learnings from different universities regarding sustainability integration, followed by opportunity for questions and joint discussion.

Unite! Teaching and Learning offers 14 pedagogical trainings taking place online in the spring 2022 for Aalto University teachers including PhDs and post-docs with teaching responsibility. 

Unite! Teaching and Learning is a series of training activities aimed at teaching staff, lecturers and faculty in all Unite! partner institutions, who are interested in sharing and developing teaching and learning practices. We invite you to meet Unite! colleagues while learning how teaching and learning is promoted at different partner universities.

Sustainability Integration, Current Experiences – Future Perspectives

March 30, 2022, at 10-13 (9-12 CET)

We start the programme with an inspirational part with presentations from three universities and their case examples/ways of integrating sustainability. The second part is dedicated to facilitated small group discussion on selected themes on the future of sustainability integration, e.g. identifying bottlenecks and challenges in sustainability integration, existing knowledge gaps and organizational support needs.

Learning outcomes

  • Familiarisation with a variety of practices for sustainability integration
  • Reflection on topical challenges and support needs in sustainability integration in HEIs
  • Charting possible directions of future development work for enhanced sustainability integration

Activities

  • Introductions to currently used practices of sustainability integration in different universities of the Unite! network, followed by joint discussion.
  • Small group work on selected themes for exploring future directions for developing enhanced sustainability integration.

Target Group: Higher education developers and everyone interested in integration of sustainability into curricula, courses and organizational setting in HEIs.

The activities – webinars, courses and training events – are run by pedagogical experts from the partner universities and are free of charge for the Unite! community. All “Unite! Teaching and Learning” activities are in English and take place online. Some of the activities will award credits.
