A New Navigation Method for Organisational Transformations

Title of the doctoral thesis is "Engaging a Moving Organisation - Modelling a military enterprise with architecture tools"

Contemporary military organisations are seeking to improve their capabilities and gain possible strategic advantage through digital transformations. Unfortunately, these transformations are risky, often achieve only partial improvements and may end up with crucial gaps in the structure of national defence.

The research builds a model for organisational evolution which recognises the underlying forces that may accelerate or hinder the transformations. The multidiscipline approach reveals the dependencies between people, processes, and technology essential to understanding when planning a transformation.

The new model helps the enterprise architecture practitioners to recognise these forces and dependencies, foresee their effect, and improve the success of digital transformations. The model also applies well to analyse any western military organisation for their development stage and opportunities to evolve in the future. More profoundly, the model will improve the success in benefiting from the emerging technologies in military organisations.
