This year, Aalto sent four researchers to COP30 to increase the scientific basis of the Finnish Pavilion, which brings together over 40 forerunner companies, cities, associations, and other stakeholders. Aalto’s cooperation with Pavilion partners will continue after the conference, as inspiring guests from the Finnish delegation will join Aalto researchers in Marsio to share experiences from COP30 and discuss the interconnections of science, business and climate policy.

The COP30 Debrief features two panel discussions with panelists from Outokumpu, Sitra, the city of Helsinki and the Ministry for the Environment accompanied by Aalto researchers, who will discuss the following themes:

From Knowledge to Action: Science at COP and Beyond

What role does science play in societal decision-making at national and international levels? This panel explores the role science played at COP30 and how science can and should guide decision-making.

Sustaining Climate Leadership: Towards a Sustainable Future Amidst Uncertainty

How are businesses and other stakeholders driving sustainability strategy and climate leadership in a volatile world? The second session dives into the challenges and opportunities businesses, cities and other stakeholders face while pushing more ambitious climate actions in turbulent times.

Each panel offers the audience an opportunity to ask questions from the panelists.

The event is open for the whole Aalto community.
