Community drive: Grants for students

Let’s get to work for students! We’re looking for volunteers from across the Aalto community to get on a bike and help us keep the wheels turning for 10 hours.

In our events, we are committed to Aalto University’s principles for a safer space.

Ready to ride and make a difference?

Students, staff, leadership and alumni – everyone’s welcome! In this drive we’ll keep the wheels turning for the full 10 hours and a generous donor will make a donation to Aalto’s Student Innovation Grants, helping student teams take their promising ideas to the next level, turn their theories into prototypes.

It’s a long day, so alongside those taking on 10-minute cycling shifts, we also need plenty of enthusiastic supporters to cheer everyone on – every contribution counts!

Come along to enjoy great company, cheer on your friends and colleagues as they pedal for success, and above all, make a real difference for our students!

The essentials:

  • An exercise bike will be set up in Marsio, at Saastamoinen Foundation Stage, and the pedals must keep turning throughout the day, from 8 am to 6 pm. Speed doesn’t matter, as long as we keep moving forward.
  • The relay will make headway in 10-minute cycling shifts.
  • Sign up for one or more shifts and get ready to pedal for the benefit of our students.
  • Make sure your calendar booking has come through, and don’t schedule any meetings over your cycling slot.
  • Challenge your group of friends, colleagues, lunch buddies or hobby group to sign up for shifts as well. Let’s fill the calendar and make sure we secure the full donation!

Slush and the final push for A! Sign of Change campaign

This cycling challenge to raise funds for Student Innovation Grants is part of Aalto Innovation Week. While the cycling relay is underway at Marsio, you can also watch a live stream from the main stage at Slush from 10 am to 6 pm. Slush events will be streamed at Marsio on Thursday, 19 November, too.

Our community’s 10-hour show of strength is part of the two-year A! Sign of Change fundraising campaign, which comes to an end at the close of this year: it’s time to make one final push and celebrate our community – especially our students.

Our work will, of course, continue beyond the campaign. But for now, let’s give it one final sprint and see just what the Aalto community can achieve when we come together!

Sign up for a cycling slot and help us give the campaign a strong final push!

See you at Marsio!
