The lecture series Aalto Design Talks introduces designer Stefan Diez.
Diez is a German designer and founder of Office Diez. Together with his team, he explores a broad spectrum of design, creating award-winning furniture, tableware and accessories in collaboration with internationally renowned manufacturers, such as e15, emu, Hay, Rosenthal, Thonet, Vibia, Wagner and Wilkhahn.
The practice of Diez Office is characterized by innovation through technical expertise, instinct and a passion for experimentation. Some of his products have received international design awards, such as the “Designpreis der Bundesrepublik Deutschland”, the “IF Gold award” and the “red dot best of the best award”. From 2007 to 2014 he was Professor for Industrial Design at the HFG Karlsruhe. Since 2018 Stefan Diez is Professor for Industrial Design at the Universität für Angewandte Kunst in Vienna.
Diez works intensively with materials and technology and is passionate in his quest to fathom out their limitations. Together with his office they develop products that are precise, yet simple and above all are meant to meet human needs.
