Principles for a safe space

The scale model has been developed to show how the Hydrogen Economy interacts with the natural landscape, human population and the broader energy system. Specifically it models the land use requirements and required technologies of the entire production chain for making the quantity of electro sustainable aviation fuel (e-SAF) to meet the 2030 target defined by Finland's e-SAF industry; thus giving insights into the interplay with communities, nature, and the entire energy system.

The model has been produced with the collaboration of the following:

Aalto Hydrogen Innovation Centre: The Aalto Hydrogen Innovation Centre aims to enable a sustainable hydrogen society by promoting world-class research and educating future experts in collaboration with the academic community, companies, and other stakeholders in the sector.

Hydrogen Cluster Finland: Hydrogen Cluster Finland (Suomen vetyklusteri) brings together companies and other sector actors to accelerate the development and commercialization of the hydrogen economy in Finland. Its goal is to promote investments, strengthen collaboration, and position Finland as a leading hub for clean hydrogen in Europe.

H2EnergySCAPES: H2EnergySCAPES is a research project, funded by Research Council of Finland  which aims to develop novel methods of analysis and design to support the sustainable development of hydrogen valleys. The project is carried out in collaboration between Aalto University and LUT University.
