Computational electromechanics

The research in our group is focused on the numerical modelling of coupled problems that occur in magnetic materials and especially electrical steel sheets used to construct electrical machines. These problems range from energy dissipation in the material to vibrations and noise of electrical machines and devices.
Computational electromechanics

Yet another major subject is the coupling between models of different dimensionality in view of reducing the computation time needed to simulate energy conversion devices. These methodologies are then applied in the optimization tasks and also in the development of magnetism based sensors.

We develop our own methods and related software and validate the methodology through experimental procedures in our own facilities. Some of the methods we develop are also incorporated in commercial software for better transfer of knowledge to our stakeholders.

The group has the facilities to test electrical machines up to the power of 150 kW. Test results are typically needed for the validation of the numerical methods and models developed.

The group is led by Professor Anouar Belahcen.
