Sound and Physical Interaction (SOPI) research group’s main interests are centred on the broad area of Sound and Music Computing (SMC) and Sonic Interaction Design (SID).

Sound and Physical Interaction (SOPI) research group’s main interests are centred on the broad area of Sound and Music Computing (SMC) with a particular focus on new interfaces for musical expression (NIME), deep learning and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies of music. The research in SOPI includes building, implementation and performance of novel interfaces and instruments for music, interactive art and audio-visual production. The research builds on ideas from real-world physical interactions, audio-tactile augmentation, embodied interaction and smart technologies. SOPI research group is led by Koray Tahiroğlu and received funding from Academy of Finland, Nokia Research Center, TEKES, Aalto Tenure Committee and A!OLE Aalto Online Learning network.
