Andrés Lucero

Associate Professor, Interaction Design

Andrés earned a PDEng (Professional Doctorate in Engineering) in User-System Interaction and a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), both from Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in The Netherlands. His research interests include HCI, design, and play. Prior to joining Aalto University, he was Senior User Experience (UX) Researcher at Nokia, and Associate Professor of Interaction Design at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU).

Minjian Guo

Kokea (Minjian Guo) received her MA in Communication Design from The Glasgow School of Art (GSA). Her work explores human-food relationships through visual communication design and Human-Food Interaction. Her doctoral research focuses on everyday home cooking as a sensory, material and relational practice, investigating how cooking shapes people’s understanding, appreciation, and care for food.

Sarah Song

Xiaran (Sarah) Song graduated from Goldsmiths, University of London with an MFA in Computational Arts, and obtained her bachelor’s degree in Film and Media Arts at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) in 2016. Her doctoral research investigates techno-spiritual experiences in artistic practice by seeking new ways to notice and embrace silence and slowness.

Anqi Wang

anqi.2.wang[at]aalto.fi

Anqi Wang received her MA in Interaction Design Communication from University of the Arts London (UAL). Her interactive artworks have been exhibited at the Ars Electronica Festival and the Design Museum in London. Her doctoral research focuses on post-visit museum experiences, curatorial practices on social media, and the promotion of cultural heritage.

Mary Karyda

Mary Karyda (2017-2021)

In her doctoral research, Mary explored self-reflection through meaningful representation of personal in physical forms. Her former training as an artist in combination with her background in design research allows her to follow a research through design approach. Her main research interests relate to data physicalization, personal informatics, everyday objects, meaningfulness and self-reflection.

Joongi Shin (2021-2026)

In his postdoctoral research at the intersection of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), AI, and Design Research, Joongi studied and designed human-AI co-creation systems that improve creative practitioners’ creativity in addition to their design quality. Joongi Shin earned his PhD in Industrial Design from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST)
