Marja Hokkanen

Marja Hokkanen is a Professor of Practice for tax law at Aalto University. In addition, she is an attorney specialising in tax law, with particular expertise in value-added tax (VAT), energy taxation, car taxation, alcohol taxation, and customs law. Over the course of her nearly 30-year career, she has worked at the Administrative Court, the Finnish Tax Administration, the Ministry of Finance, and in audit firms. She has also served as a tax expert at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels. Hokkanen has a comprehensive understanding of the various actors and institutional practices within tax law. Furthermore, she serves as a member of the European Commission’s VAT Expert Group.
