Philip Dickemann is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Aalto University School of Business.
His research focuses on management accounting and its role in addressing sustainability-related challenges, particularly those related to energy consumption and carbon emissions. He studies how energy costs and carbon emissions can be measured, allocated, and integrated into management accounting systems to support organizational decision-making and control.
A particular focus of his research is the design and implementation of accounting approaches that incorporate energy and carbon information into organizational practice. He also examines the informational and organizational requirements, implementation barriers, and managerial implications associated with their use.
Prior to joining Aalto University, Philip was a research associate at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany, where he completed his doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) at the Chair of Management Accounting. He holds a master’s degree in Information Engineering and Management from KIT and a bachelor’s degree in Management and Economics from Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz.
