Support for Aalto University’s strategic internationalisation
The Global Engagement team is part of Leadership Support Services and it advances Aalto University’s vision of a global ecosystem of sustainable change and supports university-wide guidelines and decision-making. Aalto global engagement emphasizes the university’s role as an international actor that helps to solve global challenges, provides opportunities for developing world-class collaboration hubs, attracts international talents, and fosters a diverse and inclusive community.
What we do:
- Support for Strategic Development & Planning: Ensuring systematic consideration of global dimension in strategic work
- Driving alignment of “International Aalto”: Maximizing impact through cohesion
- Strategic Academic Partnerships, Networks, and Alliances: Creating and maintaining global circles of influence
- Global Insights & Advisory: Providing global intelligence to support organizational decision-making

Aalto global engagement initiatives
We manage, develop and promote several entities that support Aalto’s strategic goals for internationalisation.
The Finnish-American Research & Innovation Accelerator (FARIA) is a strategic US-focused network, serving as platform which integrates, aligns and supports joint and associated actions of Finnish member institutions.
The Finnish Indian Consortia for Research and Education (FICORE) is a network of higher education institutions from Finland and India collaborating in diverse fields of science and technology.
Unite! is one of the European Universities networks funded by the European Commission. Unite! aims to significantly strengthen the mobility of students and staff and to promote the quality, inclusion and competitiveness of European higher education. Aalto university is one of the nine partners of the network.
Global Engagement team manages, coordinates and/or facilitates a variety of Aalto University's international partnerships, networks and alliances with a university-wide scope.
