The programme is intended particularly for university research teams in the idea phase who want to accelerate the creation of new business by preparing the commercialisation of a product or service solution.

Aalto Innovation, in cooperation with Business Finland and Aalto University schools, offers pre-incubator and coaching services for research-based teams on their journey towards commercialising an invention and establishing an independent spinout company. The Research to Business pre-incubator programme is open year-round for original innovations and inventions based on Aalto University research. The programme is intended especially for projects that are still at the idea stage and want to accelerate the creation of new business by preparing the commercialisation of a product or service solution.

The programme helps teams transitioning from research to business to advance their innovation and move smoothly from the academic world to entrepreneurship. During the project the team is supported by experts who assist with market research, mapping potential partnerships, fundraising, team building and IPR protection and strategy.

When the research project is ready to spin out from Aalto, the technology transfer process begins, at which point a company is created from the project.
