The purpose of the rectification request procedure is to provide applicants the opportunity to appeal against Aalto University’s student admission decision on the grounds of an error in the decision-making, and thereby have an erroneous decision corrected.

When a decision can be rectified

An admission decision may only be rectified if Aalto University made an error in the admission procedure, and that error justifies changing the admission decision.

This process is not for requesting feedback or additional information regarding the admissions results.

What to include in a rectification request

Your request for rectification must include the following information:

  • The study option(s) that your rectification request concerns.
  • The decision you want rectified.
  • How you want the University to rectify the decision.
  • The grounds for your rectification request, clearly explaining the error made by the University in the admission process.
  • Your contact details, including your full name and email address.
  • Written authorisation for your representative, if you use a representative.

You cannot submit any new documents to support your rectification request.

Aalto University bases admission decisions and decisions on rectification requests only on:

  • The materials and information you submitted during the application period and by the document deadline (12 January 2027); and if you were requested to provide supplementary information, the information that you provided by the given deadline.
  • If the admission procedure involves multiple stages, the decision may also be based on an interview or a preliminary assignment.

Decisions on scholarships are final and cannot be appealed against.
