Country-specific document requirements
If the country-specific requirement concerns one document only (e.g. transcript of records), the rest of the educational documents must be submitted according to the general document instructions.
Certified documents after admission results
During the master's application phase, scanned PDF copies of original educational documents are uploaded to the application system. Electronic documents are sufficient in the application phase. After admission, officially certified documents are required.
Country-specific document requirements apply to conditionally admitted applicants after the admission results have been published.
Admitted applicants must submit officially certified (attested) copies of their educational documents by the given deadline. Check the deadlines at: Certified documents after admission results.
There are country-specific document requirements for educational documents awarded in certain countries (including Finland). The list of countries is below.
If a country-specific requirement concerns only one document (e.g. transcript of records), the remaining educational documents (e.g. degree certificate, official translations) must be submitted according to the general instructions at: Certified documents after admission results.

Transcript of records:
If your university uses My eQuals service, share your electronic transcript and degree certificate via My eQuals to admissions@aalto.fi.
If your university does not use My eQuals service, your university must send an official transcript of records directly to Aalto University Admission Services in a sealed envelope.
The transcript of records must bear the university's original stamp and the certifying officer's original signature. Regular photocopies are not accepted.
The envelope must be sealed with the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap to indicate that it has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp are not accepted.
The envelope may contain only official documents issued by the university (e.g. degree certificate or diploma supplement). Transcripts handled or delivered by the applicant will not be accepted.
Degree certificate:
If you cannot share your electronic degree certificate via My eQuals service, a certified copy of degree certificate is required. A certified copy of Australian Higher Education Graduation Statement (AHEGS) is also accepted in place of a degree certificate.

If your degree is awarded in Bangladesh, the copies of your degree certificate and transcript of records must be certified by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
Your documents must have one of the following:
- E-Attestation
If your documents are attested with e-attestation by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh, your transcript of records and degree certificate must carry the e-attestation sticker. The sticker with the QR code and index number must be clear and legible. We must be able to verify both the transcript of records and degree certificate. If verification requires a PIN code, you must provide the PIN code to the Admission Services of Aalto University. E-attested documents can be submitted via email to admissions@aalto.fi. - Certified hard copies with stamps and signatures
Each page of the transcript of records and the degree certificate must bear the original stamp and signature of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh. Photocopies of certified documents will not be accepted. The stamped documents must be submitted as hard copies by courier mail.

If your degree was awarded in Cameroon, an official transcript of records must be sent directly from your university to Aalto University Admission Services in a sealed envelope.

Degree certificate:
You are not required to submit a copy of your degree certificate if your transcript of records confers the degree and includes the following information:
- name of the institution awarding the degree
- title/name of the degree
- name of the student
- date of award of the degree

The CSSD requirements concern admitted applicants after the admission results have been published.
You do not need to submit CSSD verification reports yet during the application period. If you wish to include CSSD verification reports in your application already during the application period, upload them to your application form.

If your degree is awarded in mainland China, a verification report of your transcript of records in English by CSSD (Center for Student Services and Development) is required.
This requirement concerns also applicants with an incomplete degree.
Apply to CSSD (www.chsi.com.cn) for a verification report of your transcript of records in English.
The verification report must be sent to Aalto University Admission Services at: admissions@aalto.fi.
Take into account the processing time of CSSD and start the verification process well in advance.

Degree certificate:

If you are completing or have completed a degree in Finland after 1 January 2003 and you have a Finnish personal identification code, copies of your official transcript of records and degree certificate uploaded to your online application form are enough.
Certified documents are not required. Aalto University can verify your degree in a national database.
If your degree was incomplete at the time of applying and you did not upload a copy of your degree certificate, send a copy of it in PDF format to admissions@aalto.fi. The file name should be in format: Degree-certificate-Lastname-Firstname.
If your degree was completed before 1 January 2003, or you do not have a Finnish personal identification code, you must submit the documents following the instructions on certified documents.
Please note that all educational documents awarded by the National Defence University (Maanpuolustuskorkeakoulu)and Åland University of Applied Sciences (Högskolan på Åland) must be submitted following the general instructions on certified documents.

If the institution does not re-issue official transcripts, photocopies of the original documents must be attested by the Controller of Examinations or Registrar and delivered in the institution's sealed envelope to Aalto University Admission Services. You can submit the sealed envelope yourself to Aalto University.
Aalto University accepts also official electronic transcripts (e-transcripts) sent via Truecopy.

If your degree is awarded in Iran, the copies of your official transcript of records and degree certificate must be legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the Embassy of Finland in Tehran.
All the copies must have the original stamp given by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the Embassy of Finland in Tehran. Copies of the certified documents will not be accepted.
Official translations of educational documents must be certified by the Ministry of Justice.
Original transcripts issued in English by the university are accepted if the transcript arrives in the university’s sealed envelope. The envelope must be sealed with the awarding institution’s official stamp across the back flap to indicate that the envelope has not been opened. Envelopes sealed with a generic stamp are not accepted. You can send the sealed envelope yourself to Aalto University.
The documents need to be submitted as hard copies.

If your degree is awarded in Pakistan, the copy of your degree certificate and transcript of records have to be attested by the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in Pakistan.
Each page of the copies of the degree certificate and the transcript of records must have the original attestation stamp and signature of the HEC official. Regular copies of attested documents will not be accepted. The authenticity of the qualifications will be verified with the HEC.

Electronic transcripts sent via Parchment Exchange, National Student Clearinghouse and eSCRIP-SAFE or in secure PDF format are also accepted. The PDF transcript has to contain the blue certification ribbon and it has to be sent directly from the issuing university's Office of the Registrar to the Admission Services at Aalto University (admissions@aalto.fi).
Degree certificate:
You are not required to submit a copy of your degree certificate if your transcript of records confers the degree and includes the following information:
- name of the institution awarding the degree
- title/name of the degree
- name of the student
- date of award of the degree

Address and instructions for sending certified hard copy documents
If the country-specific document requirements require you to submit certified hard copy documents, please find the address and instructions below.
Sending documents by courier (recommended, especially from outside the EU)
Use a courier service (e.g. DHL, UPS, TNT, FedEx) so you can track the shipment. This is strongly recommended for shipments from outside the European Union (EU) and recommended within the EU as well so that you can track your shipment.
If sending from outside the EU:
- Send the documents as a letter, not as a parcel.
- Do not declare a value for the letter. If a value is required, declare 0 (in euros or local currency) to avoid customs clearance.
- Use a goods description such as “documents” and indicate “no commercial value.”

Submit your documents in the required manner and so that they arrive by the deadline
All documents must arrive at Aalto University Admission Services by the given deadline. Send the documents as soon as you receive your admission offer.
A conditional study right will be cancelled if documents arrive late. Late documents will not be considered even if the delay was beyond the applicant’s control. Applicants are responsible for submitting the documents in the required manner and meeting the deadline, including when sent via third parties (e.g. post or courier). The documents must arrive by the deadline; the postmark date is irrelevant. No extensions are granted.
