Biomedical engineering

The biomedical engineering area mainly encompasses medical devices. This includes all scales from macro to smaller, encompassing technologies such as microelectromechanical systems. The subarea also includes design related to healthy living environments. Neurotechnologies are excluded from this subarea.

Professors in the area are from the backgrounds of electrical engineering, applied physics, biophysics, biology, biomedicine, mechanical engineering, and civil engineering, and often come together in multidisciplinary consortia.
