Aalto Energy Efficiency Research Programme (AEF) is an interdisciplinary programme that coordinates significant long-term projects aimed at improving energy efficiency.

AEF supports new and potentially ground breaking projects, and strengthens cooperation within the Aalto University in different areas of research. The first research projects started in autumn 2012 and they were accompanied with new projects in summer 2013. Their length is limited to four years.

The Programme focuses on practices and changes in operating environments that promote efficient use of energy. The approach is interdisciplinary, providing that the research objectives are only possible to achieve through genuine cooperation across different fields.

The programme strengthens internationalization and research training and offers young researchers the opportunity to focus full-time on high-level research.
