Study Experience at Digital Business Master Class

Digital Business Master Class (DBMC) is a project-based international and intensive course for master's students. In addition to challenge-based learning and digital technologies, the course introduces visiting students to Finnish culture.

Digital Business Master Class is organised at the Aalto University campus in Otaniemi, Espoo.

Digital Business Master Class (6 ECTS) includes viewpoints to the Finnish and global digital business landscape and companies through industry lecturers and company visits. The lectures are held by Aalto faculty, visiting faculty, and industry professionals. The lecture topics cover various sides of digital business, from information systems to data-driven marketing and the ethics of artificial intelligence.

In addition to attending lectures, students learn by working on business projects in multicultural and multidisciplinary teams. The Master Class's participants come from Aalto and our partner universities around the world to share different ideas and perspectives.

During the Master Class, students also get to participate in various social and cultural activities, including welcome and farewell events, company excursions, and visits to local gems.

I found the experience transformational and would change very little. I'm definitely more confident in the digital vernacular.

International

The Master Class welcomes people from all around the world to the course. The international setup provides unique opportunities for exchanging views and improving cross-cultural communication skills while growing your international professional networks.

Challenge-based

At the Master Class, students work in teams to create digital solutions for problems provided by our real-life partner companies. We inspire our students to take responsibility and ownership of learning. The teams are encouraged to research their topic and brainstorm strategies and concepts to address the challenge. At the end of the course, teams get to showcase what they have learned and share their results with company representatives.

Memorable

Spending two weeks in Finland, exploring a new country and making friends from all over the world creates memories for a lifetime. We at Aalto do our best to make the students feel welcome and to help them make the most of their experience.

“I really liked the exposure to the digital tools, the vast differences in cultures and the different contexts that were brought in for class interactions. The coordinators also did their best to make sure everyone is on board.”

Old fortress by the water in Suomenlinna.

"I loved the visit to Suomenlinna sea fortress. The boat trip over gave us an opportunity to see Helsinki from a different perspective. Loved spending time with the class. Suomenlinna itself is beautiful and I enjoyed getting some of the history from the guide.”
