Energy Conversion and Computational Engineering, Master of Science (Technology)
Learn to design and optimise sustainable energy systems, master modern simulation and modelling tools, and drive the energy sector towards a cleaner future.
We are moving towards an energy system that has to be sustainable, smart and flexible to meet new challenges. This energy transition requires new ways of thinking about how to meet society’s energy needs, while being as energy efficient as possible. The Master's Programme in Advanced Energy Solutions is an excellent place to start shaping the energy system of tomorrow.
The Aalto University Master's Programme in Advanced Energy Solutions offers four major subjects focusing on different aspects of energy transitions – learn more and find the major that's right for you with the links below.
Learn to design and optimise sustainable energy systems, master modern simulation and modelling tools, and drive the energy sector towards a cleaner future.
Study energy engineering and design sustainable energy systems, energy-efficient buildings, and healthy indoor environments for the future.
Energy Systems and Markets -major offers basic understanding of energy systems, the main challenges our energy solutions are facing today and possible ways towards a sustainable future.
The Industrial Energy Processes major gives students a basic and advanced understanding of the industrial energy processes, outlines the main challenges energy solutions in industry are facing today, and introduces possible ways towards a sustainable future.
Master of Science (Technology) degree is 120 ECTS credits. The degree consists of major studies, master´s thesis and elective studies.
Major studies (66 cr) consists of:
The main purpose of the programme common module is to give the same starting point for all students regardless their previous back ground. Major common courses give the student a basic understanding of the field. Specialization is built mainly through advanced studies, where students may choose courses from different topics and schools within Aalto.
The elective studies 24 cr can be totally freely selected, or they can constitute a minor subject, according to the student’s preference. Master´s thesis of 30 cr then concludes the degree.
