I am a Ukrainian researcher and writer, author of Ukrainian Scientists at War narrative memory project (jointly with Dr Oleksiy Boldyriev and Моя наука – my.science.ua). Formerly held research stays at University of Augsburg (Germany), Center for Eastern Studies (Poland), Indiana University Bloomington, Fordham University and Northwestern University (US). Since 2021, I have been doing analytical studies on Ukrainian wartime culture, society and Russian propaganda in media for Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation. I have served as an expert for House of Europe (2025), Ukrainian Book Institute (since 2020) and Ukrainian Cultural Foundation (2021—2022). My work was awarded with Encounter: The Ukrainian-Jewish Literary Prize (2025); Serhii Kemskyi Award (2021) and the first prize of the Competition of student research works on the Revolution of Dignity; first awards of the Competition of Young Analysts (Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation, 2021); the Competition of Art Critics writing about sculpture (2021); “Keeping the Memory About the Holocaust” research competition (2019); National Competition of Student Research Works (2017); XVI Petro Yatsyk International Competition in the Ukrainian Language (2016); “Vytoky” Literary Contest (2014); the second prizes of Literary Award Named after Anatolii Krylovets (2022) and Competition of gender journalistic materials (Internews Ukraine NGO, 2021), the third prize of X Stedley Art Critics Prize (2021) and was short-listed for the Crimean Fig / Qırım İnciri literary competition (2024).
Among others, I edited the anthology Centuries of Presence. The Jewish World in Ukrainian Short Prose of 1880s–1930s (Dukh i Litera, 2024) and five volumes of Geopoetical Studies (2018—2022) as well as contributed to “Ukrainian Decolonial Glossary” (2024). My research and writing was supported by MiCT Fellowship for Media Makers; Vidnova Ukraine Fellowship; Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture; Think Visegrad Fellowship; fellowships at Indiana University Bloomington and Fordham University; Regional Press Development Institute; Ukrainian President’ Scholarship and others. A prolific author, I have published extensively in Ukrainian, English, Lithuanian and German in Europe, the US and Africa. My main interests span cultural memory, sculpture, decoloniality, women’s rights and empowerment, gender studies, imagology and imaginative geographies of Central and Eastern Europe, literature, cultural heritage, philosophy of language, intellectual history and Eastern European Jewish studies.
