Project Professionals, Association for All Project Management Professionals in Finland, has granted an award to Jere Lehtinen's dissertation External stakeholder engagement in complex projects

Jere Lehtinen’s dissertation investigated three areas of project business: First, how do project organizations organize stakeholder engagement in project activities? Second, how do project organizations communicate effectively with external stakeholders? Also, how and why are partners engaged and disconnected during the project? The findings help complex project organizations systematically engage stakeholders and organize engagement at different stages of the project.

In the study, one of the research streams focused on the use of social media in stakeholder communications. Further research is already planned based on the findings of the dissertation. For example, other communication technologies, stakeholders, and phenomena will be studied more deeply in the future. The world is changing, and the role of technologies is also changing in project work, especially in stakeholder interaction.

Lehtinen’s Doctoral Research has also been awarded the International Project Management Association’s (IPMA®) Global Research Award 2021 for graduate research. IPMA is one of the largest organizations in the project industry in the world.
