Postdoctoral researchers Mikko Vehkaperä and Taneli Riihonen from the Department of Signal Processing and Acoustics have separately received Exemplary Reviewer 2015 awards from IEEE Transactions on Communications which is the flagship journal of IEEE Communications Society. The certificates of appreciation were given to fewer than 2% of all reviewers for their professional service to the scientific community.

Dr. Riihonen is sent by Aalto University on an international assignment to pursue postdoctoral research at Columbia University in the City of New York through the current year. In addition to frequently volunteering as a reviewer, he serves in the editorial board of IEEE Communications Letters.

Dr. Vehkaperä’s research work on signal processing for communications is funded by the Academy of Finland through its highly competitive three-year postdoctoral researcher grant. In addition to teaching responsibilities, he currently participates in Aalto University pedagogical training.
