Intelligent Materials Design project aims to discover new materials for information and communication technologies

Aalto's Energy Platform awards Sami Suihkonen, Filip Tuomisto and Patrick Rinke seed funding for preparing a H2020 application.

The interdisciplinary, cross-school team of Sami Suihkonen, Filip Tuomisto and Patrick Rinke were awarded seed funding of 30k from the Aalto Energy platform. Their idea in the Intelligent Materials Design project is to build up a value chain from materials discovery to devices. Theoretical and experimental high-throughput screening of materials will be combined with  materials refinement, property enhancement and device integration. The aim is to enable (opto)-electronic devices with hitherto unprecedented properties and functionalities. The seed funding will be used to establish a European consortium that will prepare a Horizon 2020 application on ICT devices in April 2017.
