ICEC2025

The 13th International Conference on Environmental Catalysis (ICEC2025) will be held from June 2 to 5 (Monday through Thursday), 2025, at "SARACEN SANDS HOTEL & CONGRESS CENTRE" in the charming Isola delle Femmine (Palermo, Sicily—Italy). The conference follows the ICEC2022, which was held at Kansai University in Osaka, Japan, from July 30 to August 2, 2022. The conference is the major event in environmental catalysis with an expected of more than 500 participants.

After three decades, in a deep transition period to a new low-carbon economy, ICEC went back to Italy to discuss the future of environmental catalysis. The conference sub-title is "Addressing the new challenges" because it aims to redefine fundamental and applied research on environmental catalysis to address the 2050 challenges.

New life for construction waste wood

In Finland, almost all waste wood from construction ends up being burned, even though it could play a major role in the development of ecological growing media. New research shows that steam-treated waste wood can replace peat as a growing medium and offers promising results in plant germination and root growth.
