Full scale structure test

We made a mockup of one of Kide's four trusses at 1:1 scale to test assembly and handling.

Kide will be built on-site within a short period, so it was essential to get an idea of how long it takes to properly manoeuvre each large component with the help of a crane. Making a full scale mockup was a great way to learn what to do and what to avoid. We concluded that strong planning, effective communication and making sure everyone around knows what to do are the most important.

Assembling the truss was also good for getting a sense of scale and to understand the weight and size of individual components, which had thus far only existed in our drawings and models. This was a particularly impressive moment as it was the first time we experienced the full height of the structure, which is over 9m.

While taking the truss down the next day we were caught by takatalvi, the typical moment in Finland when winter comes back one last time during spring.
