Finnish Design Info to raise international visibility of Finnish design

Plans for a new info centre for the design field move forward with a new project team.
Finnish Design Info

Finnish Design Info builds a platform to communicate about Finnish design in a dynamic and diverse way and to share knowledge about the impact design has on business and society at large. After a period of preparation, the project now moves to its next phase with a newly appointed team.

Katja Lindroos assumed the position of the project manager in late-February. Lindroos is an entrepreneur and brings to the project her experience of project leadership, cross-sectoral collaboration as well as media and event production. She has worked in the fields of design and the creative industries as an editor-in-chief, brand consultant, curator and educator among others. She will oversee the launch and develop organisational structures for the project to secure its continuation.

Reetta Haarajoki started in March as a communications specialist. She has worked with visual culture in various communication and production roles. Haarajoki will manage the digital channels of Finnish Design Info and create content about different phenomena of Finnish design. Both Lindroos and Haarajoki work part-time for the project until January 2022.

Finnish Design Info is led by Helsinki Design Week’s organizer Luovi Productions, Aalto University, Design Forum Finland, the Design Museum, the Grafia Association of Visual Communication Designers and Ornamo Art and Design Finland. The visual identity was commissioned by the founding organisations from AD Antero Jokinen.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture. In 2021 it functions as an independent project inside the administrative structure of the Design Museum. The goal is to open Finnish Design Info as a permanent info centre and service point in 2022.
