Why?

All university graduates need entrepreneurial skills and entrepreneurial thinking in their future careers. The competitive landscape out there is getting fiercer. It is obvious that many of our students will have to face the challenge of participating in projects where new businesses are being created, and new products and services are developed. This requires a new set of skills. Together with leading international experts, educators at Aalto University share their experiences in developing and delivering courses that help students develop an entrepreneurial mindset and related skills. Participants will take part in workshops as both teachers and learners, get ideas and inspiration for their courses and learn how to integrate entrepreneurial education into the rest of the curriculum to act as change agents in their organisations.

For whom?

This week is targeting educators who want to integrate entrepreneurial skills into their existing courses, University entrepreneurship program coordinators and anyone who wants to see how entrepreneurship is taught at Aalto University.

The Program

Train the Trainers

A two-day-long intensive workshop on entrepreneurship education. The session is based on experiential learning principles and is set up as a short entrepreneurial course. As a participant of the course, you will act in the role of a student and get a concrete, hands-on perspective of one way of teaching entrepreneurship. Suitable for those who would like to deep-dive into teaching entrepreneurship, and preliminary experience is preferred.

Entrepreneurial Education Summit

The best way of understanding the comprehensive perspective of entrepreneurial education at Aalto University. This two-day-long summit consists of keynotes, workshops, networking and much more. You will also have an opportunity to have an overview of Aalto University entrepreneurial ecosystem as a part of the community day program. Suitable for those who would like to have a combination of workshops and keynotes to have an overview of Aalto entrepreneurial ecosystem and education. No pre-knowledge is required.

  • The finale of an educational development project by Ministry aka YTYÄ: At the end of the second day of the summit, there will be a series of workshops developed during YTYÄ – a nationwide higher education development project funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture and coordinated by Aalto Ventures Program. The main goal of the project was to reach all bachelor students of the participating educational institutes and provide them with entrepreneurial skills and mindset. This was mainly done by integrating entrepreneurial content into other education in the form of different exercises and workshops. At the summit, you will have a chance to take part in some of these workshops developed by Åbo Akademi University, Hanken School of Economics and Tampere University together with Aalto Ventures Program.
    * YTYÄ stands for “Yrittäjyyden, yrittäjämäisen toiminnanja työelämäosaamisen edistäminen”.

  • Startup Circus: Startup Circus is an event that brings together art and startups. It culminates in an explosion of art and business idea pitches on the second day of the summit after the program. You will experience the most colourful pitching event in town! (contact person: Jukka-Pekka Heikkilä)
